Machine Needles

Machine needles, for many it seems a side issue, but it certainly is not! There is a specific machine needle for each type of fabric. The thickness, the sharpness of the tip and the shape of the eye determine whether the thread passes smoothly through the fabric without damaging it. It also determines whether the character of the fabric can be manipulated. As the thickness of the fabric increases, so does the number of the needle. Universal needles are the most commonly used for many natural and synthetic fabrics, from cotton to chiffon, linen,... Whereas for stretch fabrics, you should choose a stretch or jersey needle. The microtex needle is useful for silk, nylon, microfibre fabrics, etc. Each fabric has its own needle.
